On 21 June, the Summer Solstice, we gathered at Due Lune Resort in Sardinia for a meditation and movement practice to celebrate the longest day of the year, guided by Maria Laura Savio (@lallainlalaland).

The word solstice comes from the Latin solstitium, meaning “the sun stands still.” For a brief moment in its journey across the sky, the sun appears to pause. It reaches its highest point, gifting us the longest hours of daylight and marking a moment of abundance, fullness and light.
Across cultures and centuries, the Summer Solstice has been celebrated as a reminder of our connection to nature and to the rhythms that govern life on Earth. The days are warm, the evenings stretch endlessly, and nature expresses itself in its fullest form.

At Recreative Sun, this idea resonates deeply with us.
We often think of the sun as something external: a source of warmth, energy and light. Yet there is also a fragment of the sun, a spark of light within each of us.
Many traditions associate this inner sun with the solar plexus, the energetic centre located about a hand’s width above the navel. Often described as our inner sun, it is linked to personal power, self-confidence, vitality and the ability to move through life with clarity and purpose.
There is another beautiful parallel between the Summer Solstice and our inner experience. In breathwork, there is a brief pause between the inhale and the exhale, a moment of stillness before the breath changes direction. For an instant, nothing is moving, yet everything is alive.

The solstice mirrors this same pause. As the sun reaches the highest point of its journey, it appears to stand still before beginning its gradual return. A moment suspended between expansion and release, fullness and transformation.
Perhaps this is why the solstice feels so powerful. It reminds us that growth is not only found in movement, but also in stillness. That sometimes the most meaningful moments occur in the pause, when we take a breath, become present, and reconnect with ourselves.
It is the vitality that allows us to move, create and explore. It is clarity when our mind feels aligned. It is the quiet confidence that emerges when we are fully present. It is the energy that makes us feel alive.

Spending time outdoors has a unique ability to reconnect us with that inner light. A walk by the sea, an early swim, a moment of stillness at sunrise, an afternoon shared with family and friends. These simple experiences remind us that wellbeing is not only something we cultivate through routines and rituals. It is also something we receive from nature itself.
The sun teaches us an important lesson: to shine does not mean to burn out.
Just as nature follows cycles of expansion and rest, our relationship with the sun is about balance. We embrace its energy while respecting its power. We seek its warmth while protecting our skin. We celebrate long days outdoors while preserving our wellbeing for the years ahead.
This is one of the ideas at the heart of Recreative Sun.

To live in the sun consciously. To enjoy its energy, beauty and vitality. To protect the skin that carries us through life. And to remember that the brightest light is often the one we already carry within.
Happy Summer Solstice.
